Her childhood was marked by her mother’s willingness to make her become a movie star. She had to go thru many castings, movies and plays against her own will.

It is in 2001 that Maïwenn will first talk about her childhood in an autobiographical one women show called Pois Chiche aka Chick-pea. She will play different caracheters such as her Father, mother, agent or even brothers and sisters. The success of this show will bring her to perform the Play in the Famous Parisian Café de la Gare for a year and a half.

She will then shoot the Alxandre Aja movie Haute Tension, in 2003 with Cécile de France and in 2004 the Claude Lelouch movie Les Parisienne. She will for the first time be directing for the making of of “The Professionnal” directed by Luc Besson in 1993.

Her first directed movie I am an Actrice in 2003 was the adaptation of her One Woman Show Le Pois Chiche. Seduced by the experience, she took the step and decided to direct her first long footage movie Pardonnez-moi aka Forgive Me following the family theme of her first movie.

Her second long footage movie Le Bal des Actrices aka All About Actresses starring Karin Viard, Charlotte Rampling, Muriel Robin, Julie Depardieu, Mélanie Doutey, Marina Foïs, Romane Bohringer, Lin Dan Pham… was released this year and was in the same vein of her precedent direction.
